LMFAO ‘scufflin’ with Mitt Romney

Super Bowl half-time stars LMFAO say they got into a skirmish with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney over a reclined airline seat.

“Party Rock Anthem” DJ SkyBlu, whose given name is Skyler Gordy, was on a plane with Romney in 2010 when the two got into a verbal skirmish.

SkyBlu had reclined his seat before takeoff on a flight from Vancouver to Los Angeles. After Romney asked him to straighten it, the rapper reacted badly and was escorted off the plane.

Now his bandmate Redfoo, whose given name is Stefan Gordy, tells Rolling Stone more details about the strange incident.

“Romney was sitting behind him – he didn’t know we were LMFAO, and we didn’t know he was a governor,” says Redfoo. “[The fight] was about how [SkyBlu] reclined his seat.”

Apparently, the incident inspired LMFAO’s song, “We Came Here to Party.” It contains the lyrics, “You sellin’ books and wanna be the president / We sellin’ hooks and the flow is heaven sent / We both hustlin’ so why we tustlin?'”

Redfoo also tells Rolling Stone what it was like to play with Madonna during halftime at the Super Bowl.

“If Michael Jackson is our number one, Madonna is the number-two inspiration for everything LMFAO does,” Redfoo explains. “I don’t know how many people were in the stadium, but they didn’t exist. All that existed was me and Madonna.”

He said his favorite moment of the performance was when Madonna sat on his shoulders, though he also admitted to having trouble supporting the pop icon’s weight during rehearsals.

Redfoo says, “In rehearsal, she said, ‘If you were working out more, you could lift me a little easier.’ Her biceps were way more cut up than mine. She was like, ‘Get a jump rope.”
