Woody Allen heads for the bushes

Woody Allen didn’t stay out late for the party following the Cinema Society, Hollywood Reporter and Piaget screening of his new film, “To Rome with Love,” at the Paris Theater. The shy director left his bash at Casa Lever after about 15 minutes, just as guests were beginning to arrive, pulled out by the hand of wife Soon-Yi Previn. They ducked out through the potted shrubs lining the restaurant’s Gardens courtyard. Still, Allen told us, there’s an upside to fame: “It’s better to be famous than not famous because you get unfairly pampered.”

Paparazzi pummeler Alec Baldwin arrived with fiancée Hilaria Thomas. After posing for fotogs at the theater, he reluctantly posed again at the party, muttering to himself. New Hollywood darling Greta Gerwig said she was nervous working with Allen: “I was really scared I was going to get fired, and I am really happy that I made it to the final cut. I was trying to show up every day and do my job as best I could because, if you try to be great, it’s almost a guarantee that you’ll be terrible.” Also at the Disaronno-sponsored bash were Jon Hamm, gorgeous “Rome” star Alessandra Mastronardi, Chris Rock and “Girls” star Jemima Kirke, who showed off a growing baby bump and admitted, “I feel a bit top-heavy.”
