The South of France may never have before seen an American style barbecue quite like the July bash at the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat estate of taxi mogul Gene Friedman, where attendees included Jacob the Jeweler, p.r. guru Ronn Torossian, lawyer Ed Mermelstein, and a mix of New Yorkers, French and Russians.
Guests rode scooters and traded turns driving a custom-made, yellow, electric Tesla NYC taxi.
The barbecue featured hot dogs and hamburgers — as well as high-end caviar and Champagne — and attendees did scooter races from Friedman’s house to the Len Blavatnik-owned Hotel du Cap — which Friedman won in a 6-minute 17-second win.
All those years owning NYC taxis must have helped.
