Former New York club king Eric Goode and “60 Minutes” correspondent Lesley Stahl had to dodge armed poachers in Madagascar to find some of the last remaining Plowshare tortoises in the wild. The dangerous search-and-rescue mission was documented as part of a segment for “60 Minutes” about Goode’s work as a founder of The Turtle Conservancy, which will air tonight. The Bowery Hotel co-owner is also enlisting celeb friends — including Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Gretchen Mol, Ted Danson and Matt Dillon — for a PSA to raise awareness about turtle poaching. Also in the works is a February benefit for his conservancy — and we imagine turtle soup won’t be on the menu.
