Boxing great Bernard Hopkins, a k a “The Executioner,” tells us he was once nearly thrown out of Madison Square Garden before his own fight, against Felix Trinidad shortly after 9/11. “That night, security even stopped me when I was coming into the Garden,” recalled Hopkins while watching a Knick game at MSG. “And they looked through my bags. I was like ‘Yo, I’m fighting tonight!’ But I understood. It was one of the most emotional nights of my life.” Hopkins was sitting courtside last week to support his pal Rasheed Wallace. But Wallace, who grew up near Hopkins in Philadelphia, was ejected from the game on technical fouls after playing a paltry 85 seconds.
