Prince William, Kate Middleton congratulate Obama on re-election

Barack Obama’s re-election was met with fanfare by a number of celebs in the US, but the president also got a royal set of cheers from across the Atlantic.

Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly sent Obama their well wishes after last night’s presidential election. “The Duke and Duchess have sent a personal note of congratulations to Barack Obama on his US re-election,” a royal insider tells Us Weekly.

The royals have met the president and First Lady Michelle Obama on several occasions, including the Obamas’ joint trip to Buckingham Palace in May 2011 and Michelle’s solo trip to the London Olympics in July.

Apparently, the Queen has also given Obama’s re-election her stamp of approval. “Her Majesty is pleased with the election result,” a insider tells the magazine.

“She gets on well with Mr. Obama and his wife,” another source said.
