“Are we here for art? Are we here for film? Are we here for ho’s?” wondered designer Donna Karan while introducing an “intimate screening” of Anjelica Huston’s new short film “Haven’t We Met Before?” Starring classy English ingenue Felicity Jones and debonair Jack Davenport, the short turned out to be about Karan’s line of hosiery, so we were happy to learn we were all there for hose, not ho’s. Relieved, we headed upstairs at Karan’s Stephan Weiss Studio, with guests including Gina Gershon, Lola Schnabel, Bernadette Peters and George Wayne, for an informal Q&A led by Vogue’s André Leon Talley about ladies’ legs. Surrounded by a chic audience dressed mostly in back, Talley expertly analyzed the difference in the way Karan and Huston were crossing their legs: Huston was labeled “regal imperial,” while Karan was “Zen-phobic.” Right. After a few more questions for the women, Talley realized the elegantly disheveled fellow at the end of the bench was Davenport. “Oh! You’re the gentleman from the film!” Talley exclaimed.
