Power brokers’ ‘State’ of mind

While Fashion Week preoccupied New York’s young and beautiful Tuesday night, power brokers gathered at Monkey Bar to watch President Obama’s State of the Union Address. Billionaire David Koch, Google’s Eric Schmidt, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, “Steve Jobs” author Walter Isaacson, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, starchitect Richard Meier and MoveOn.org founder Eli Pariser were spotted at Celerie Kemble and Boykin Curry’s dinner for the annual oration. A spy said James Fallows, a previous State of the Union speechwriter, moderated a conversation and “kept things from coming to blows.” Others at the Atlantic magazine-sponsored bash included Starwood Capital’s Barry Sternlicht and Jonathan Soros.
