Flying-fur protection at Dennis Basso fashion show

Attendees at Dennis Basso’s Fashion Week presentation at Lincoln Center yesterday afternoon noticed beefed up security at his fur-heavy collection. “Anyone else at @DennisBasso and get your bag checked? High security alert in case members of PETA sneak in. Glad I am wearing faux,” tweeted writer Hitha Prabkahar as she entered. Security searched bags as guests including Joan Collins, Joan Rivers, Martha Stewart, Olivia Palermo and Carol Alt marched inside for the show, which also marked the 30th anniversary of Basso’s label. A rep for Fashion Week organizer IMG explained that designers can individually ask for extra security at their presentations: “If a designer’s team makes us aware that there is a substantial amount of fur in their collection, we work collaboratively with them to make sure precautions are taken to ensure a smooth show.”
