Brendan Coyle, who plays beleaguered valet Mr. Bates on “Downton Abbey,” will be a focus of the Origin Theatre Company’s annual benefit again this year. Last year, a prize to pamper Coyle as his personal servant was auctioned off for $20,000 to retired Long Island medical technician Sandra Doshner, a self-described “obsessive fan” of the PBS show who got to read poetry to Coyle in a horse-drawn carriage in Central Park, followed by dinner at Per Se. Coyle is offering himself up for the same prize again this year and adding a chance to dine with him at Claridge’s in London. Yet another lot being auctioned at the May 30 gala will be a chance to have tea at Tea and Sympathy in the West Village with Lesley Nicol, who plays Mrs. Patmore on “Downton.” Coyle and Nicol are planning to meet with Origin’s artistic director, George Heslin, this fall about a stage project that could include several more “Downton” cast members. The Origin benefit will honor Lorraine Turner, of the Northern Ireland Bureau, and broadcaster Adrian Flannelly.
