Cheers for Robin Roberts at Peabody Awards

Brave “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts received a standing ovation at the Peabody Awards yesterday, the eight-month anniversary of her bone marrow transplant for leukemia. “I feel good,” she told Page Six at the Waldorf-Astoria. “I can look you in the eyes and say it whereas before I’d be like ‘eh, I feel good,’ because I was supposed to . . . I’m just thankful to finally be at 80 percent.” Adding, “I am holding a Peabody so of course I feel really good today.” Roberts, who took the stage with her sister and marrow donor Sally-Ann, and network colleagues including George Stephanopoulos, accepted the award for ABC’s campaign to raise awareness about the disease. “The support has been immeasurable,” she told us. “I can’t walk down the street in New York without a cabbie yelling or somebody stopping me. I can’t thank people enough. They’ve really contributed to my recovery.” Roberts, who was off the air for six months, also thanked her bosses because she said they “made it abundantly clear that chair was going to be waiting for me.”
