British boxing champ Amir Khan — who followed his lavish wedding last month to New York beauty Faryal Makhdoom at the Waldorf Astoria with another, 4,000-guest wedding in Manchester, England — has since been following Muslim tradition and staying at Makhdoom’s Staten Island family home with her father, Shaukat, a wealthy businessman, and mother Zia. After a honeymoon trek that included Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai, multimillionaire Khan, 26, dubbed “the Boy from Bolton,” says he likes SI’s surroundings. “It’s a lot like my hometown of Bolton in England — a nice, quiet, family place.” Khan says he met stunning Faryal in July 2011 at a New York restaurant. He said, “I thought she was beautiful, and we started talking.” They stayed in touch, and she, along with her parents, later visited him in England. He said, “While we only met a few times before I proposed, we stayed in touch for a long time. I knew it was time to settle down and Faryal was the one.” Of the two celebrations, Khan told us at a Sanctuary Hotel event, “The weddings were a lot of fun but more exhausting than any fight I’ve trained for or been in.” The couple plan to make their permanent home in Bolton. Khan told us, “I hope we can start a family very soon. But I wouldn’t let my kids follow me into boxing. There’s no way I could watch my son being punched.” He says he has a deal with Showtime for his next bout on Dec. 7 in either Dubai or Vegas. He’s been pushing to take on Devon Alexander (who insists he won’t fight Khan), and then Floyd Mayweather Jr. But he added of his bride, “She doesn’t like boxing. She loses a lot of weight from worry whenever I have a fight. She can’t watch.”
