Sonja Morgan is planning to launch a burlesque act in Las Vegas.
The “Real Housewife” gave a sample of the revealing show — too revealing, some said, when she nearly had a wardrobe malfunction — in the Hamptons last week, complete with “40 backup dancers, white ostrich-feather fans, a feather headdress, bustier and tiny underwear,” spies said. Castmates including LuAnn de Lesseps and Carole Radziwill were in the crowd.
The 49-year-old cougar — who’s divorced from J.P. Morgan heir John Adams Morgan and is dating Benjamin Benalloul, 23 — said from the stage at East Hampton Studio: “Just because I married JPM, you thought this pucker was lined with gold and I’d be left holding the bag. But,” she added, slamming her legs shut, “this bank is closed.” (We were afraid to ask Morgan what that meant exactly, but we think we get the gist.)
The show, to benefit advocacy group Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth, mostly got attention through an ensuing online debate over whether Morgan’s breasts were real after they’d nearly popped out of her costume. But, “I can laugh at myself,” she said. “That’s part of being in the entertainment industry.”
Either way, the budding diva says she’s looking to launch the act in Vegas with the help of her pal, casino mogul Steve Wynn, and his wife, Andrea Hissom, and she’s already been invited to perform at XL in New York.
“Steve told me I can come out when I want to perform,” she said. “I would love to take this whole show to Broadway or off-Broadway.”
She took us through her process for creating lyrics with old-timey slang: “I look up 1920s words on Wikipedia, then I write them down and make them rhyme,” she said. “I’m like a rapper. I took out my phone and recorded it all in 20 minutes . . . like, ‘I wanna leave a juice joint at 2 and wake up with a 10, not wake up at 10 with a two.” (Not bad, actually.)
As for whether her breasts are real . . . “I won’t comment. But if I want a boob job, I’ll get a boob job. There are pictures of me backstage that show I’ve got natural breasts.” Look out, Sin City.
