Supreme Court Justice Scalia shows humorous side

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia showed his humorous side at an otherwise weighty discussion this week. At a Federalist Society event for his book “Reading Law: The Interpretation of Legal Texts,” Scalia opened with a joke, spies said, about a man who comes home tipsy and falls down the stairs. When his wife accuses him of being drunk again, the fallen gent responds from the bottom of the staircase, “I am not prepared to make any statements, but I will take questions from the floor.” Scalia then answered queries from the New York Athletic Club crowd about more serious matters, including free speech and the televising of court cases. Attorneys Emil Arca and Mark W. Smith were among the hosts.
