Rumors of Eric Stonestreet dating Charlize Theron were so implausible that even the actor himself laughed it off.
Stonestreet took to Twitter to debunk the recent Daily Mail report that falsely linked the pair:
“I wish people would stop spreading rumors that Charlize Theron and I are dating. Its starting to make Halle Berry jealous.”
Ryan Seacrest also had a little fun with the tweet. Before Stonestreet took home his hardware for Outstanding Supporting Actor for “Modern Family,” the E! News host asked the comedian to clarify his post about Berry, who is dating French actor Olivier Martinez.
“She was so cold to me this morning, just knife and fork on the plate. I was like, ‘Halle, it’s just a rumor,'” joked Stonestreet.
Stonestreet continued that he wanted to know where the dating whispers began. “I would love to know [where it got started]. But that, for all of you watching at home in America, is the definition of our town. That I am rumored to be dating Charlize Theron.”
Stonestreet, who broke up with Katherine Torkaz earlier this summer, invited a pal as his plus one for the awards ceremony.
“I brought my best friend, Paul, who looks nothing at all like Charlize Theron,” Stonestreet said.
