A wobbly Bethenny Frankel boldly tackled Katie Holmes at a holiday bash, demanding after downing a few drinks, “Give me the name of your divorce lawyer.”
Sources said the former “Real Housewife” and Skinnygirl Cocktails mogul had “one too many” of her favorite drinks at Bravo boss Andy Cohen’s holiday bash in his Manhattan apartment just before Christmas.
One source exclusively tells us, “Bethenny seemed a bit drunk and made a beeline for Katie Holmes and abruptly asked her, ‘I need a good divorce lawyer, can I have yours?’ ”
The spy continued: “Katie looked very taken aback, but was polite. She smiled and told Bethenny the name of her lawyer.”
The source added that Frankel — who days later announced that she had split from her husband, Jason Hoppy — made the comment loudly and in plain earshot of many of Cohen’s guests, among them many top TV agents and talent, including Kelly Ripa.
However, a source close to Frankel disputes our eyewitness account, saying: “This isn’t true. She hired someone before that party.”
Holmes famously blindsided Tom Cruise with her divorce filing in late July. Her divorce attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, helped her secure a quick settlement less than two weeks after filing — a reported $4.8 million over the next 12 years.
Frankel, 42, announced her separation from Hoppy, her husband of 2 1/2 years, on Dec. 23, saying in a statement, “We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter, who is and will always remain our first priority.” The couple have a 2-year-old daughter, Bryn. It is not known which lawyer Frankel has hired.
Frankel earlier this year talked about her problems with Hoppy, telling People, “Money, family, gender roles, we just keep fighting over them.”
And on Dec. 15, she retweeted a friend’s post that read, “About to drink,” adding, “I’m about to do the same. Bad day.”
A rep for Frankel declined to comment.
