Lauren Hutton leaving it to the prose

Lauren Hutton has so many juicy anecdotes for the upcoming book she’s writing, the supermodel even began scribbling on the back of her menu at a black-tie dinner to celebrate the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s tribute to Barbra Streisand Monday. After asking a fellow guest for a pen, Hutton explained she’s constantly struck by ideas — from tales of frequent adventures in the Amazon and Africa (including at least one run-in with a lion) to the first time she met Bill Clinton, who earlier presented Streisand with the 40th annual Chaplin Award. As a testament to Streisand’s star power, the night raised $2 million (or double the amount of any past Chaplin tribute), and guests, presenters and performers included Liza Minnelli, Tony Bennett, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Pierce Brosnan. After being introduced by Ben Stiller, Clinton quipped onstage at Avery Fisher Hall he appreciated Streisand’s racy role in “Meet the Fockers” to “watch Barbra give sex advice to old people, like me!”
