Barbra Streisand turns the other cheek

Barbra Streisand sits where she likes. When the icon was honored with the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 40th Chaplin Award on Monday night, veterans of the show noted honorees usually sit in a balcony box on the left side of Avery Fisher Hall, but that Streisand was placed on the right. The reason? A source said “The Way We Were” singer “only likes her left side to appear to the audience.” (Even Babs called herself “bossy” onstage.) When we asked her rep about Streisand’s demand, he replied, “It was a truly glorious evening. There are stars, and there are a few superstars. And then there’s Barbra.” A Film Society rep said the seating was “a production decision” so the night’s VIPs could easily get to the stage.
