Break-dancing with the stars

Doctors attending a North Shore-LIJ Health System gala Thursday night were almost put to work when a La Guardia HS student accidentally flipped and fell off the stage while break-dancing as part of the evening’s entertainment. Students from the performing arts school were singing Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind,” when the breaker named Theodore did a dance solo. After completing several successful acrobatic moves, he did a backflip directly into a podium at center stage, taking it with him as he toppled off the stage and a few steps down to the floor below. “Everyone gasped,” said a spy, “then he popped back up and kept going, and everyone cheered!” But the podium didn’t fare so well, and was removed. Hosts Andy Cohen and Meredith Vieira assured everyone (via replacement microphones) that Theo was fine. “That was amazing for many reasons,” Cohen noted, and Vieira added, “At least he’s in a crowd of doctors.” She said the teen wound up leaving with a smile, but joked, “He heard you raised at least $20 million, and is suing your asses!”
