‘NYC Housewives’ gone wild

Aviva Drescheris filming scenes for the next season of “The Real Housewives of New York City” with the addition of her longtime friend Amanda Sanders. But some on the Bravo series set are wondering if Sanders’ role is more than to just boost the on-camera girl talk. Sources tell Page Six that Sanders, an image consultant, was hired by the network to “make over” Drescher as a perhaps “more likable” character for the audience and her castmates alike. But others close to the show insist that’s not the case. They sniffed that Sanders was simply brought on as a friend and filmed several scenes for the upcoming season, but that it’s unclear if her role will even make the final cut. Both Sanders and a rep for Drescher had no comment. In other “Housewives” news, we hear that Sonja Morgan had been trumpeted as a host of Martinis 4 Mutts event in Southampton last weekend with Social Life magazine, but she was nowhere to be found when the cocktails were served. Instead the 49-year-old reality star finished taping scenes for her show and then rushed off to St. Tropez to see her 23-year-old real-estate developer boy toy Benjamin Benalloul, spies said. “Sonja was supposed to host the Mutts party after filming on Friday and Saturday,” a source said. “Then, she instead popped up at Club 55 on the Riviera.”
