Kate Upton is giving modesty a try.
The buxom 22-year-old opts for a drastically different look in the September issue of Elle UK (available on newsstands and digital on Friday), posing in oversize pieces that hide her trademark curves.
“I’m from Florida, it’s all about being in bathing suits,” said Upton, who once dated “Dancing with the Stars” heartthrob Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
She revealed that the Sunshine State subscribes to its own set of beauty standards. “You are ugly if you don’t have a curvy body,” she explained. “And I didn’t have one, and then I got one, and thought, ‘Yessss!’ And then people say: ‘Oh, wow, you’re healthy.’ And you’re like, ‘Wait – what? I’ve been begging for this body my whole life!’”
Though her shape is envied, Upton confessed she can be self-conscious about her figure. “Everybody at some point in their life doesn’t like themselves,” she said. “It’s not like I look in the mirror and think, ‘I’m killing it. My eyes are killing it.’ No, a lot of times I’m puffy and bloated. I like myself in general, but there are days when you just don’t.”
But should modeling not work out, Upton has a backup plan. “I would be fine leaving all of this behind and living on a farm somewhere,” she confessed.
