“Heroes” actor Jimmy Jean-Louis is mourning the loss of his father, Lephène Jean-Louis, 78, after he was shot in the stomach in Haiti last week.
The elder Jean-Louis was shot Sunday, April 6, while shopping at a store near his home in Torcelle, when three men attempted to rob the store. Lephène, an innocent bystander, was shot and wounded by a single bullet to the abdomen. On Thursday, he passed away from complications from his injuries.
Jimmy has flown to Haiti to grieve with his family, who released this statement: “We appreciate the outpouring of love and concern shown at this time of loss. We ask that you please respect our privacy during this difficult time, and keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.” A memorial service is expected to be held on Wednesday in Haiti.
The three suspects in the robbery and shooting, who escaped on motorcycle, are still at large.
