Chelsea hubby hits the slopes

Chelsea Clinton‘s husband, Marc Mezvinsky, is taking a break from his banking job to concentrate on being a ski bum.

The investment banker is forgoing work at New York-based hedge fund 3G Capital to hit the slopes for a few months in Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Sources told Page Six that Mezvinsky, now married into America’s most ambitious political family, left his position right before the holidays and took off for Jackson Hole. We hear that he’s been there through January and that his wife, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, plans on visiting him every few weeks.

Calls to his phone number at 3G Capital’s Third Avenue office went unanswered, while a co-worker told us he was “unavailable.” A rep for the Clinton family didn’t get back to us for comment.

Stanford-educated Mezvinksy had a rising career on Wall Street, having worked at Goldman Sachs before going to work for 3G Capital in 2008.

He is the son of former TV correspondent and Pennsylvania Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and Ed Mezvinsky, an Iowa congressman who served five years in jail after he pleaded guilty in 2002 to defrauding dozens of investors out of $10 million. He was released in April 2008 but remained on federal probation and still owed more than $9 million in restitution to his victims.

The younger Mezvinsky married Clinton in a lavish ceremony in Rhinebeck last summer in front of 400 guests, including Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, former White House adviser Vernon Jordan and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

The happy couple lives — albeit separately while Marc hits the slopes — in an apartment on Fifth Avenue that Mezvinsky bought in 2008.
