‘King’s Speech’ bags SAGs

It’s been a royal run for so far for “The King’s Speech” during Hollywood’s awards season. Now the apparent Oscar front-runner, it landed the top prize last night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, winning Best Ensemble Cast — the SAG equivalent of the Best Picture Oscar. The film’s star, Colin Firth, won Best Actor for his role as the stammering wartime monarch, King George VI. Natalie Portman was named Best Actress for her role as an unhinged ballerina in “Black Swan.”

The individual awards mirrored the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice awards — so there may be few surprises Feb. 27 at the Oscars. The supporting SAG awards went to actors from “The Fighter,” Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.
