Nicolas Cage worried about his private texts

Nicolas Cage was worried about his personal information, including private text messages, leaking out after losing his cellphone.

Cage, who stars in the new movie “Joe,” had dinner at Stanton Social on the Lower East Side Wednesday night with co-star Tye Sheridan and director David Gordon Green when he was spotted using his friend’s cellphone.

Diners overheard Cage say he was checking to see if his own phone could be erased in case it fell into the wrong hands. “He told his group about the phone and they asked him what he was worried about. He said, ‘There is one text message that I would hate if it got out there.’ ”

Spies said his friends sat eagerly waiting to hear the content of the salacious text. Cage finally revealed the truth, telling the group he wrote to a friend in Vegas: “I just wanted to thank you for all your help and support, bro.”

Spies said he hung his head and just said, “Bro — can I say that?” We’re told “bro” became the running joke for the night. After dinner, Cage and his “bros” attended a party for “Joe” at Handy Liquor Bar.
