After the University of Iowa denied a request by HBO’s “Girls” to film at the school, the series has gone to Plan B — Staten Island.
Lena Dunham’s character Hannah was admitted to the Iowa Writers’ Workshop on the show, and spies tell us Staten Island’s Snug Harbor Cultural Center, an 1800s home for retired sailors, is standing in for the school.
According to a call sheet seen by Page Six, Dunham was scheduled last week to film scenes there in which she “bicycles frantically” across campus, “puffs up to the Workshop” for a meeting and has her bike stolen.
She also meets new characters Dean August and Chandra. Meanwhile, back home, her aspiring actor beau, Adam, is filming a Tropicana commercial.
