Green Day’s ‘Breaking Dawn’ video premieres on MTV

In anticipation of the final “Twilight” flick, punk band Green Day will debut “The Forgotten” from the “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” soundtrack on MTV tonight. It will be the first music video from the highly anticipated film’s soundtrack.

“When we were asked to be part of the ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ soundtrack, we readily agreed because the films are an insane cultural phenomenon,” bassist Mike Dirnt told Yahoo!. “We have always been impressed with the way the ‘Twilight’ soundtracks are so carefully curated.”

Naturally, the video will feature footage from “Breaking Dawn,” MTV News reports.

Other acts featured on the soundtrack include Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Paul McDonald and wife/”Twilight” star Nikki Reed, St. Vincent and Christina Perri.

The music video will premiere on MTV and MTV.com at 6:55 p.m. ET/PT tonight. The soundtrack will be available three days before the film’s Nov. 13 release.

In other Green Day news, it was announced yesterday that lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong’s rehab stint has derailed the remainder of the band’s 2012 concert appearances and 21 dates in January and February.’

Dirnt said in a statement Armstrong’s health would not allow him to perform.

“Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” Dirnt said. “We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well.”
