LeAnn Rimes in Sandy costume as Frankenstorm ravages East Coast

LeAnn Rimes can’t catch a break. After checking out of rehab for emotional issues, she’s facing backlash for a Halloween costume that channels Olivia Newton-John character Sandy from “Grease” and has the same name as the hurricane that just ravaged the East Coast.

Rimes most likely had no intention of mocking the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy this week, but it was perhaps in poor taste considering how the East Coast is still reeling from the storm’s horrific damage.

Rimes tweeted, “Danny and Sandy #Halloween,” with a pic seductively leaning into husband Eddie Cibrian, for a kiss. But a Twitter follower shot back, “it would be a nice Halloween if we didn’t get hit with frankenstorm SANDY !! No power just about everywhere.” And headlines followed the Rimes’ photos were “insensitive” to those affected by Sandy.

The singer, admittedly, looks great. In tight black pants and blonde ringlets, Rimes is dressed as the tarted-up version of the “Grease” character who appears at the end of the 1978 musical. Cibrian is dressed as Travolta’s bad-boy love interest Danny in the Twitter pics.

In a second shot, Rimes and Cibrian are posed with Mason and Jake, Cibrian’s sons with ex-wife Brandi Glanville. “Family of the Grease days, Indiana Jones and a tribute to our navy seals,” Rimes wrote, referring to the family’s costume choices.

The Grammy winner recently said that she’s in a healthier state of mind after exiting rehab.

“I feel like I am starting over even though I’ve had all these years behind me,” Rimes said to Katie Couric. “How many people get to [start] over again in this day and age?” Looks like some folks think Rimes could use another re-do.
