The Boss drops by A-list Geffen doc

You know it’s an A-list crowd when the unexpected drop-in guest is Bruce Springsteen. The Boss and Patti Scialfa stopped by Tuesday night for an LA screening of PBS doc “Inventing David Geffen,” joining a crowd that included Cher, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Tom Hanks, Ron Howard, Cameron Crowe, Mo Ostin, Dr. Dre, David Crosby and Larry David. Spies said Geffen modestly slipped in with his date, Oprah Winfrey, and sat in the WGA Theater while a cocktail party for 500 luminaries buzzed outside. When “The Godfather” director and vintner Francis Ford Coppola wanted to enter the theater to say hello, he was told he’d have to put down a glass of red vino first. Jane Fonda arrived with a small white dog in tow. “Glee” star Matthew Morrison and Camilla Belle represented the younger generation of stars on the scene at the Peggy Siegal screening. Jimmy Iovine threw an intimate dinner later at Spago. Meanwhile, the film’s director, Susan Lacy, is training her lens on Mel Brooks for her next film.
