David Beckham played a triumphant final Major League Soccer game over the weekend. His team, LA Galaxy, defended their cup title with a 3-1 win over the Houston Dynamo before a hometown crowd at The Home Depot Center.

His wife Victoria and their four children, Harper, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, stood proudly on the sidelines as Becks lifted the MLS trophy after his team won the match.

The superstar athlete spoke after his victory, admitting it was hard to bid farewell to his team of six years.

“It is a special day for us to win it here at our home, in front of our home fans,” said an emotional Beckham. “It is a sad day as well. This is a special place for me and will continue to be a special place.”

The two-time MLS champion continued: “I have no idea where I will go next. I do know that I am happy to have been part of this club for six years and been successful for the last four years. I will continue with my commitment to this league. I might not be playing here anymore but my commitment to growing this sport and this league will continue.”

AP reports that Beckham will play elsewhere in the new year before eventually returning to MLS as a team owner, but he hasn’t disclosed his immediate plans.

However, the 37-year-old let slip that he plans to open a restaurant with TV chef Gordon Ramsay.

“It’s something I have always wanted to do. I’ve always loved cooking,” Beckham said on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.

The restaurant will be in London, he said. And Beckham has been taking cooking lessons in preparation for his new career, it seems.

“I’d love to cook for Gordon, and I definitely will one day,” he said.
