Elizabeth Wurtzel’s NY Mag piece faces backlash

Navel-gazing scribbler and Yale-educated attorney Elizabeth Wurtzel has managed to infuriate bloggers, lawyers and, perhaps most of all, law bloggers, with her New York Magazine piece on her “wretched” “One-Night Stand of a Life” almost 20 years after her “Prozac Nation.” Online critics are calling the piece “incoherent,” “inane,” and “an eloquent coke rant.” Hard-driving lawyers are frothing, since Wurtzel says she “may be the only person who ever went to law school on a lark” and wasn’t “planning to practice law,” but was personally hired by David Boies (who even helped her escape a difficult landlady). The Above the Law blog sums up, “If [Wurtzel] is an attention whore . . . we are all her johns.”
