Justin Bieber is going to become a rocket man.

Virgin’s billionaire boss Sir Richard Branson tweeted that the pop idol and his agent, Scooter Braun, have signed up for suborbital spaceflights.

“Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingalactic future astronauts,” Branson tweeted. “Congrats, see you up there!”

The 19-year-old singer retweeted Branson’s congratulations and added enthusiastically, “@richardbranson @scooterbraun @virgingalactic let’s shoot a music video in SPACE!! #nextLEVEL”

Seats for a ride on Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo rocket plane cost $200,000, and as Page Six reported, Branson said he hopes to launch the first manned flight from his spaceport in New Mexico around Christmas this year.

The ship will carry six passengers and two pilots at a time and soar to an altitude of 360,000 feet above the earth. The trip into space and back will last around 2 1/2 hours, and passengers must first go through three days of training.

The pop prince is not the only one on the wait list. According to Virgin Galactic, 65,000 people have already put their names down on the waiting list for seats on the flights and celebrities reported to have bought tickets include Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, scientist Stephen Hawking and Ashton Kutcher.

At the amfAR gala at Cannes, a bidder dropped $1.5 million for a space trip with Leonardo Dicaprio.
