Exclusive video: Shia chased bum for his food before meltdown

He must have wanted fries with that super-sized meltdown.

Troublemaking actor Shia LaBeouf chased after a homeless man — demanding he hand over a McDonald’s bag in Times Square — a few hours before he went berserk at the Broadway musical “Cabaret,” new video footage reveals.

“He really wanted whatever was in that bag. He had so much focus … If there were French fries in the bag, maybe he really wanted to eat them, ” a witness said.

He added, “He was dodging people and yelling, ‘Yo, come on!’ … He was on a mission. It was so bizarre.”

LaBeouf’s fry-tening public food grab was just a prelude to a far weirder meltdown to come.

Within a half-hour, witnesses alleged, the actor was smoking a joint and slapping star Alan Cumming on the bottom from his aisle seat at the Studio 54 theater.

“When the Kit Kat girls came out, Shia was cat-calling — he was vocal,”  a source told The Post.

“During the first act, Alan walks through the house [audience]” as the show’s kinky, bisexual emcee, the source said.

“He walked directly past Shia, and Shia slapped Alan on the ass. Alan was in character and was very professional. He knew not to engage, and he carried on walking.”

“Shia was being lewd, grunting and yelling in a lascivious way, ‘Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaah,’” said another witness. “It was really odd and creepy.”

Then, as co-star Michelle Williams sang her first-act solo, “I Don’t Care Much,” bottles and furniture began crashing.

“He fell out of his chair, and sent a few other chairs crashing to the ground during Michelle’s solo,” a witness said.

“It was bizarre — he was so crazy, it was making us all nervous,” said another witness.

Noted one source, “Shia was escorted out of the show at intermission because he was disruptive. It was not Alan who had him removed. It was dealt with by house management, and the decision was taken to remove him at intermission because it would have been more disruptive to remove him during the show.”

The cast was hoping LaBeouf would be escorted out quietly, rather than create a ruckus.

But “this could be good p.r. for the show,” one theater source cracked. “Everybody’s talking about ‘Cabaret’ today.”

Once in custody, he shouted “F—k you” at cops and tried to spit at them, sources said.

“This is f—ing bulls—t,” he railed. “Do you know my life? Do you know who the f— I am? Do you know who I am?” the complaint against him states.

Officers tossed him in a holding cell at Midtown North, where he spent the night, cops said.

Later, the star began singing a strange, apparently made-up hip-hop song, rapping, “I want to go out. I want to go out,” police sources said.

He also paced around and yelled at officers who fingerprinted him, police sources said.

“He accused the arresting officer of being abusive toward him … I guess, in his sick mind, he thought it was the officers’ fault for arresting him for being an a–hole,” a police source said.

LaBeouf was arraigned — still in his ripped blue T-shirt — Friday morning at Midtown Community Court before Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Felicia Mennin, with a public defender at his side.

Prosecutors asked for $2,500 bail, but the judge ordered him released on his own recognizance.

LaBeouf had begun loading up on strawberry margaritas — at least four of them — between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m., while watching the World Cup at the bar at Iguana on West 54th Street, according to manager Carlos Mancia.

He signed a few autographs, posed for pictures, and was “really, really nice,” the manager noted. “There was a lady with a stroller and he opened the door and held it for her — he was very respectful.”

By 5, he had taken up position down the street, outside the Three Monkeys bar.

“He was outside on the sidewalk chatting it up,” said a bartender there. “He was actually quite funny. He was telling people to cheer up. He was taking pictures and videos with people.”

By 6:20, LaBeouf had apparently worked up an appetite.

One witness, who works in the publishing industry, was walking home from work with his girlfriend at 6:23 p.m. when they spotted the “Transformers” actor at Broadway and 49th Street, dodging pedestrians to catch up with the homeless man.

“At first I thought the bum had stolen something from [LaBeouf]. But the bum was responding in almost a joking manner.”

His girlfriend added, “It was like they were playing tag!”

The cat-and-mouse game broke out just three hours before the star was hauled away in handcuffs for smoking inside Studio 54 Theater and slapping actors’ butts — including Cumming — backstage and in the audience, police sources said.

A security guard at the theater told cops LaBeouf stood up in the middle of the performance and began hollering at actors onstage — prompting stunned theater-goers to turn around and stare, according to a criminal complaint.

The actor was charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and harassment.

He declined to comment afterward.

On Friday morning, Cumming joked about the ordeal, tweeting, “@Cabaret_Musical Stage Manager last night at intermission : This is your places call and Shia Leboeuf has left the building in handcuffs.”

Earlier Thursday, LaBeouf posed with a fan on Instagram.
