Elaine Stritch was overcome with emotion after watching a new film about herself — concluding her story is “too [bleeping] sad.”
The documentary, “Shoot Me,” chronicles the 89-year-old Tony and Emmy winner’s life, including her battle with diabetes and her move to Michigan last year after 71 years in New York.
“I love the film, and I love that woman up there,” she told us of seeing herself on the big screen at The Paley Center for Media. “But I don’t want to be her. It’s just too [bleeping] sad.”
Earlier, she shocked “Today” host Kathie Lee Gifford by dropping an F-bomb in a live chat.
But Alan Cumming approved, telling us: “I wish people were more ballsy . . . We’re artists; we’re supposed to be messy!”
