‘Spidey’ team courts ‘Idol’

Bono is in talks with “American Idol” chiefs for him and The Edge to perform on the grand finale — and they’ve asked to play their songs from “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” Page Six has learned exclusively. Sources said Bono is also negotiating for the “Spider-Man” stars to join them onstage at the “Idol” finale next week. An insider said, “They are talking to Fox about how it would work. Ideally, Bono and The Edge would perform and be joined onstage by the ‘Spider-Man’ cast. If everyone agrees, with millions watching, it could be great for the production.” But, “It is still very preliminary conversations. ‘Idol’ producers know they could get many top acts on the finale. It has to be what works best for their show.” Bono and The Edge, who wrote the “Spider-Man” score, have been putting much energy into the Broadway production, set to open June 14 after delays, injuries to cast members and critical drubbing of the work in progress. Reps for Fox, U2 and the production declined to comment.
