Moss’ ‘Sex’ spread in Vogue

Vogue’s hugely anticipated September issue will feature Kate Moss on its cover and in a gorgeous fashion spread inside, but not just in the wedding dress that John Galliano designed for her wedding.

Instead, sources told us, the story — under Secret Service-like protection at Vogue’s 4 Times Square offices — features Moss dressed in gowns by a handful of designers, including Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang and Valentino, just like Carrie Bradshaw.

Sources say that Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour asked top designers to create looks they’d most like to see Moss wear during her nuptials. The waifish model was then photographed in the various looks by Mario Testino for the issue.

The shoot is akin to the scenes in the “Sex and the City” movie, in which Sarah Jessica Parker‘s character has a dreamy photo shoot for Vogue wearing wedding dresses by Christian Lacroix, Lanvin, Dior and Vivienne Westwood.

One source told Page Six: “Kate is on the cover, but the wedding is the minor part of the story. Anna told about 10 designers to pick out their ideal dresses for Kate.” Our sources added that because the highly influential Wintour made the request, “that meant they had to do it.”

As it is with any of Vogue’s September issues, sources added that details of Moss’ shoot were kept tightly under wraps. “If anything got out about the cover, Anna would flip,” quipped one source.

Testino also photographed Moss’ July 11 wedding — a three-day, raucous celebration dubbed “Moss-Stock” by British locals. Attendees at the affair included Naomi Campbell, Jude Law, Jade Jagger, Kelly Osbourne, a well-behaved Galliano and, of course, Ms. Wintour.

The September issues of fashion magazines are the most important of the year because they’re usually the biggest.

A rep for Vogue said, “We don’t comment on rumors about future issues.”
