Casey Anthony‘s parents, George and Cindy, are shopping for a book deal to cash in on their estranged daughter’s “most hated woman in America” notoriety. Sources say they first met with New York publishers two years ago about penning a book about Anthony’s case. The sources claim CBS News arranged a meeting between the Anthonys and CBS Corp.-owned Simon & Schuster in 2009, when the network paid the couple $20,000 in licensing fees for materials that aired during an interview on “48 Hours.” A CBS News rep says the alleged set-up “never happened.” Simon & Schuster says, “We are not publishing, and have never intended to publish, any book by Casey Anthony, her family or any member of her team.” George and Cindy are also trying to negotiate a sit-down interview with Anderson Cooper‘s new show. A source said, “They’re asking $450,000.” An “Anderson” show rep said, “We would never pay that.” George and Cindy’s lawyer, Mark Lippman, responded, “One, all of your speculation is wrong, and two, due to attorney-client privilege I cannot discuss any other response.”
