Brad Pitt says he wants to marry Angelina Jolie

LOS ANGELES — Brad Pitt admitted he wants to marry longterm girlfriend Angelina Jolie soon, despite once declaring the couple would not wed until gay marriage is legalized.

“We’d actually like to and it seems to mean more and more to our kids,” the actor told The Hollywood Reporter. “We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out.”

The 48-year-old movie star, who is up for Best Actor in this year’s Oscars, said his change of heart was partly down to the couple’s six children.

“It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot,” he said. “And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”

The actor did not disclose whether he had proposed to Jolie, 36, adding, “I’m not going to go any further.”

But he reiterated his support for gay marriage, saying, “… to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous.”

Pitt also did not rule out having more kids with his partner of seven years.

“We haven’t closed the book on it,” he told the magazine. “There’s a really nice balance in the house right now, but if we see the need and get that lightning bolt that says, ‘We can help this person; we could do something here,’ then absolutely.”
