Mary Tyler Moore might have been honored for Life Achievement at last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, but the 75-year-old actress was far more excited about the possibility of talking to George Clooney than getting a trophy.

“I met George Clooney in a very small elevator. He came over and he put his arms around me,” Moore told People of her first meeting with “The Descendants” actor. “I think he said something like, ‘I love you.’ It was maybe two years ago.”

She continued, “I am going to seek him out tonight,” as she entered the event.

But Clooney wasn’t the only person at the awards show to show affection for Moore. Dick Van Dyke said of his former onscreen wife, “She was 23 and had never done comedy. I never saw somebody pick it up so fast. I still have a crush on her.”

Before the event, Moore revealed how refreshing it was to walk into an awards show knowing that she was going to win.

“It’s so hard to sit there with a smile on your face waiting for your name to be called,” Moore explained. “When it’s not, you keep the smile on your face, and it’s just the dumbest thing. But tonight it was good because I knew I was going to win, so I wasn’t that nervous.”
