Stallone’s nephew says actor neglected son

Sylvester Stallone’s nephew tore into the famous “Rocky” actor, saying the world-famous screen star neglected his late son who desperately wanted his dad’s love, according to a published report today.

In a series of angry Facebook postings, 18-year-old Edd Filiti – the son of Stallone’s half-sister Toni Ann — said his cousin yearned for his father’s affection.

Sage Stallone, found dead in his Los Angeles home on Friday, called his dad on the famed actor’s birthday on July 6 and the elder Stallone didn’t phone back.

“What did he do wrong, say happy birthday,” Filiti said in a Facebook posting that’s since been removed, according to the Web site Celebuzz.

Neither you [Stallone’s wife Jennifer Flavin] or he could return a phone call, which is all he wanted, his father. I know you don’t care what happened, but you’ll care when your [sic] squirming under the burning magnifying glass of public opinion.”

But Edd told us last night that he regretted putting his feelings on Facebook. He said: “I made a mistake. It is a very emotional time and I vented my feelings. I was feeling raw and emotional and I never meant for my feeling to become public. I took the post down minutes later. I never meant to insult my uncle. I have my own issues with him, but that should never be said on Facebook. I want to recant my words.”

Filiti’s words stood in contrast to the elder Stallone’s touching words about his son.

In his first comments since Sage’s death, Stallone asked that fans not speculate about his passing.

“This is in reference to the speculation and questionable reporting surrounding the death of my son Sage,” Stallone said in a prepared statement.

“Because when a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my wonderfully talented son’s memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha, because this agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives.”

He added: “Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son’s memory and soul left in peace.”

An autopsy on Sage Stallone was completed on Sunday, but it’ll take weeks for results of toxicology tests.

Foul play is not suspected and no suicide note was left, so authorities are looking at this as a possible accidental overdose.
