Elizabeth Taylor’s grandson toots his horn

Elizabeth Taylor’s grandson, Rhys Tivey, is ready to hit it big as a jazz trumpeter.

The 23-year-old — the son of Taylor’s daughter Liza Todd and artist Hap Tivey — graduated a year and half ago from NYU. Now, the Rhys Tivey Quartet will launch its new album, “No Voice, No More,” with a Jan. 23 performance at the Cutting Room.

Rhys, who’s been taking vocal lessons, told me he might even sing a couple songs.

As for his famous grandmother, “I would visit her in LA about twice a year. She was a beautiful person, and really, really encouraging.”

Rhys was mentioned in Carrie Fisher’s 2008 memoir, “Wishful Drinking,” because he had a flirtation with Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd — and, of course, Fisher’s dad, Eddie, was notoriously married to Taylor after leaving Fisher’s mom, Debbie Reynolds.
