Colin Firth escorts late solider’s wife to premiere

Colin Firth — who plays real-life prisoner of war Eric Lomax in WWII drama “The Railway Man” — escorted the late British soldier’s wife, Patti, down the aisle at the Paris Theatre for the film’s New York premiere.

Lomax’s widow, who is played by Nicole Kidman, told us, “Colin did superbly well … Very often I see scenes and forget just for a moment it’s not my husband.”

The film’s based on Lomax’s 1995 memoir about his time in a Japanese POW camp in 1942.

Firth later circulated at Harvey Weinstein’s Rouge Tomate after-party with CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield and Tina Brown.

We hear Firth, who also stars in Woody Allen’s next film, was seeing the director’s “Bullets Over Broadway” on Tuesday.
