Reality star Stevie J owes more than $1M in child support

Here’s a dose of reality for “Love & Hip Hop” star Steven Jordan — falling more than $1 million behind in child support will land you in jail.

The feds busted Jordan — otherwise known as “Stevie J” on the VH-1 reality show “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” — saying he’s become one of New York’s worst dead beat dads, officials said Tuesday.

Jordan was nabbed Monday night in Atlanta but will eventually have to face a judge in New York on charges that he shirked his child support obligations here, failing to pay $1.1 million in court-ordered child support for a boy, 17, and girl, 15, who live with their mom — his former live-in girlfriend — in Pennsylvania.

US Attorney Preet Bharara said Jordan raked in big coin on the TV show but didn’t want to take parental responsibility.
“By choosing to use the money for himself, rather than to pay his child support obligations, Jordan not only violated court orders, but committed a federal crime for which he will now be held responsible,” Bharara said.

Jordan makes $27,000 a month on the show, according to an affidavit by Vincent Maldonado, a special agent for the Department of Health and Human Services. And between January and August of last year, he raked in $193,499, according to feds.

Jordan had $18,566 of that reality-TV money garnished but it barely made a dent into his greater debt.

Stevie J has had wages attached in the past.

Between Nov. 18, 2011 and Jan. 8 of this year, the New York state taxman docked $40,080.22 from Jordan’s paychecks, feds said.

Jordan struck a deal in New York family court on July 10, 1999 to pay $6,608 a month in child support.

The court increased those payments to $8,557 a month on Oct. 22, 2011.

Jordan made an initial appearance in Atlanta federal court on Tuesday.

His bail hearing is set to continue on Wednesday before an appearance is scheduled for New York.

Jordan’s defense lawyer declined comment on Wednesday.
