Davis’ Grammy party starry

Music legend Clive Davis‘ annual pre-Grammy bash was packed with celebrities, yet Whitney Houston‘s 10-person entourage still formed a human chain, shielding her from other guests. Black Eyed Pea Taboo blamed their Super Bowl half-time sound problems on show engineers, telling one guest: “The control room messed up,” adding he wasn’t upset over the criticism: “You’ve got to stay positive.” Miley Cyrus strutted passed John Mayer in a bust-baring bandage dress. She elicited an eyebrow raise and half smile from the musician, who may have been eyeing a new prospect. Katy Perry told us, “I feel overdressed,” in her shimmering silver mermaid dress. Randy Jackson cheered her up by saying, “I almost wore the same dress!” And Cher presented record exec David Geffen with the lifetime achievement award but said, “I have no idea what this bleeping award means, but either way I’m sure he deserves it.” Other guests who enjoyed performances by Mumford & Sons, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, R. Kelly, Cee Lo Green, Matthew Morrison and Dionne Warwick (who closed with “That’s What Friends Are For”) included Jane Fonda, Neil Young, Lenny Kravitz, Bruno Mars, Les Moonves, Sarah Silverman, Sacha Baron Cohen, Faith Evans, Quincy Jones, Diddy, Akon and Nick Jonas.
