Herman Cain suspended his presidential campaign in the wake of a Georgia woman’s claim that she had a 13-year affair with the former pizza mogul. But a new Christmas video reveals that Gloria Cain has no intention of dropping out of her marriage.
Herman and Gloria Cain hold hands in front of a fireplace in a new four-minute video created by the “Friends of Herman Cain” to rehab the politician’s floundering image. But the video is more cheesy than a slice Godfather’s Pizza.
Cain — who has also been accused by four women of sexual harassment — is revealed first in the video, a camera focusing in on him from around a Christmas tree. Cain reads out loud from the Bible in the clip.
“For unto you is born this baby in the city of David, which is Christ the Lord,” says Cain, as his wife grabs his hand and gives it a squeeze, her wedding ring sparkling in the light.
The video intercuts the Cains with an unnamed wife missing her military husband, a grandma reading to her family, a woman singing in a studio as she cradles a baby and a toy train driving through fake snow. At the end of the video, Gloria finally speaks.
“Peace be with you,” she says.
Herman in then chimes in, “Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season from our family to yours.”
The video, of course, makes no mention of Ginger White, the businesswoman who has said that she and Cain were involved in a 13 year affair. Nor does it mention Karen Kraushaar, who claims she was paid to keep silent after bringing a harassment claim against Cain. Or Sharon Bialek, who alleged that Cain said he’d help her get a job for sex.
Cain was featured on Wednesday night in Barbara Walters “10 Most Fascinating People” special. He revealed to the legendary interviewer that he has “been doing my homework” after being mocked for mispronouncing Uzbekistan, and that he would like to be considered for Secretary of Defense now that he is no longer in the presidential race. He also talked about the allegations against him.
“I believe that in the court of public opinion I have not been treated fairly,” he said. “Because the accusations were false, but they continued to be spun as if they were true.”
