Britney Spears’ ex calls her fiancé ‘a really good guy’

PERTH — Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline had glowing praise for the singer’s new fiancé Jason Trawick and offered his support for the match.

“[Britney] is happy; she’s doing really well. I want to say she’s in a good place … I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids’ teachers that they’re doing really good. It’s a good step in the right direction,” he told Australia’s TV Week.

Federline married Spears in 2004 and they had two sons together — Sean, six, and Jayden, five.

But after the pair split in 2007, Spears began a downward spiral and lost custody of the kids due to her wild partying and emotional issues.

She began dating Trawick, her manager, in 2009 and he has been credited with helping her overcome her meltdown and refocus on her career.

The singer’s father, James Spears, was appointed by a judge in 2008 to handle her legal and financial affairs — including who she can marry — under a court conservatorship. Her family is also said to be pleased with the match.

Trawick, 40, proposed to the “Toxic” singer last week with a custom-made Neil Lane round-shaped diamond ring.

After Trawick popped the question, the 30-year-old Grammy winner tweeted “Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for.”

“I’ve spoken to him quite a few times as of now. He seems like a really good guy. The kids speak highly of him [and] her family loves him,” Federline added about Trawick, 40.

Since his split from Spears, Federline, 33, has rebounded with ex-volleyball player Victoria Prince. The pair welcomed a daughter together, Jordan, in August. Federline also has two children with actress Shar Jackson, his former fiancée.

Federline is currently in Western Australia, filming a weight-loss reality show “Excess Baggage.”
