Is the White House no longer friends with Facebook? Sources say President Obama’s hard-charging communications director, Dan Pfeiffer, and Rahm Emanuel’s long-time aide Sarah Feinberg, who left the administration in August to work for Facebook, have separated after six years of marriage. Politicos have been whispering about the power couple who have been trying “to make it work” for five months since Feinberg moved to Palo Alto, Calif., to take a job in the social networking site’s policy communications office with former Bill Clinton spokesperson Joe Lockhart. White House insiders have noticed that Pfeiffer has not been wearing a wedding ring recently. A friend told us they haven’t filed papers and the split is “incredibly amicable.” The two met on Al Gore’s election campaign in 2000. Their political romance sparked national interest when they accepted positions in Obama’s administration, working alongside fellow married staffers like former communications director Anita Dunn and longtime adviser Bob Bauer. Feinberg declined to comment. Pfeiffer didn’t get back to us.
