HOUSTON — Mathew and Tina Knowles, the parents of pop star Beyonce Knowles, have finalized their divorce after 31 years of marriage, TMZ reported Monday.
According to divorce papers, Tina Knowles said the marriage was “insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities [which] prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”
The couple first filed for divorce in November 2009, after Tina Knowles, 57, discovered her husband had had an affair and fathered a love child.
Despite the revelation, the pair failed to show up for a court hearing in early 2010 and the divorce petition was dropped.
But Tina Knowles, who founded the House of Dereon fashion line with her Grammy-winning daughter, refiled divorce papers in August, and their split was finalized in November in Texas.
The Houston-based couple married in 1980. In addition to Beyonce, 30, they have another daughter, Solange, 25, who has a seven-year-old son, Julez.
Beyonce and her husband, rap mogul Jay-Z, are expecting their first child in February.
Mathew Knowles, 60, is credited with helping his eldest daughter launch and manage her singing career — though Beyonce announced in March that he would no longer serve as her manager.
