Lindsay Lohan to appear on ‘Glee’

Lindsay Lohan will guest star on “Glee,” despite the song-and-dance show having mocked her in the past, reports say.

Lohan’s rep confirms that the actress has signed on to appear in the Fox series. According to the industry Web site TVLine.com, Lohan will appear in the season finale, playing a judge at Nationals. In the past, “Glee” has brought in guest stars Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban to play exaggerated versions of themselves in the final episode of the season as judges determining the fate of McKinley High School glee club New Directions.

Lohan’s casting makes a lot of sense for the hit series, as the starlet has shown her musical chops in the past. Lohan released her debut album in 2004, “Speak,” and followed it up a year later with the album “A Little More Personal (Raw).” Lohan famously made a video for the song “Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father),” which described her estranged relationship with father Michael Lohan.

However, Lohan was famously the butt of joke on “Glee.” In 2010, when Gwyneth Paltrow guest-starred as substitute teacher Holly Holiday, she began her Spanish class by asking the class, “Lindsay Lohan is totally crazy, right?” She also added, “How many times has Lindsay Lohan been to rehab?”

Lohan’s mother, Dina Lohan, confessed to Radar Online at the time that her daughter had been hurt by the dialogue.

“Lindsay is so upset with Gwyneth,” Dina Lohan said. “Lindsay was watching it while in Betty Ford, then she called me and was upset and said, ‘Why did she have to do that?'”

However, Lohan is currently on the comeback trail and appears willing to overlook the slight penned in the “Glee” writers room. Lohan has been in legal hot water for the past four years, beginning with two DUI charges in 2007 and culminating last year when Lohan pleaded no contest to misdemeanor theft for swiping a necklace while on probation. Lohan is expected to have her probation terminated in a court hearing Thursday. She recently hosted “SNL” for the fourth time and reportedly will be playing screen icon Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime biopic. The role on “Glee” could be a good step for Lohan towards rehabilitating her public image.

This is not the first time that Lohan looked to up her profile with an appearance on a popular show. In 2008, Lohan appeared in multiple episodes of “Ugly Betty.”
