Hollywood writer/director Paul Haggis has become a fixture on the New York party scene after a recent move here. But his nights out for events at the Soho Grand, Tribeca Grand, Crosby Street Hotel, The Standard, Del Posto and The Four Seasons are actually in the name of research. The Oscar-winning writer of “Million Dollar Baby” and “Crash” has been overheard asking numerous young party reporters about their experiences for a screenplay. A rep for Haggis told us he does have a project in development he wrote two years ago — which he’s hoping to be his next film — and that he chose to make the main character’s occupation a night-life scribe after meeting a few on the town.
